PCT Day 111

Shelly Meadows to mile 1638 campsite – 28 miles (45km) – 1638 miles total

The plan was to attempt to do 28 miles today but we were not sure if it would be possible or not. There was a lot of ups and downs in the terrain and potentially rocky trail.

There was a fair bit of up at the start of the day and some rocky trail, but then the trail evened out. It looked like I could get 18 miles done by lunch time leaving 10 after lunch. That is always the goal. As I become tired and slower on my feet as the day goes on and the miles do not come as easily.

The trail went through Marble Valley today, which were granite rock structures that I could see in the distance from the morning until I reached them around lunch time. The trail was also lined with beautiful wildflowers all day.

At camp tonight there is an overly friendly deer. Here is hoping he doesn’t get any friendlier during the night.

Today I am thankful for wildflowers.
