North Fork feather river to Lassen park boundry – 25 miles (40km) – 1365 miles.
Due to only needing to do 10 miles to get to Drakesbad Ranch, we didn’t need to leave early. It was a nice hike in the morning with a few stops to see a guyser and thermal pond in Lassen Volcanic National Park.
We arrive at Drakesbad in time for a pre lunch ice cream and then the lunch buffet which was really nice. After lunch we had 16 miles to hike to get out of the park, as you are not allowed to camp in the park without a bear canister. I knew that would take most of the rest of the day, so I put my head phones in and went. Both D and F saw bears that day.
We ended up camping just outside the park boundry, because bears totally respect that invisible line.
Today I am thankful for cool things to see along the trail.
