Mile 990 camp to mile 1006 camp – 16 miles (25km) – 1006 miles total
It was 7 miles from camp to the top of Dorothy Pass. In terms of gradient it was the nicest pass yet, gently making its way up over the 7 miles. In terms of snow and water it was terrible. Trail was often lost because of the snow and significant portions of the trail were under water. There was no chance of keeping feet dry for even a portion of the day.
The top was beautiful with Dorothy Lake. However, I didn’t take a photo. I haven’t taken many photos this stretch, because I have had my camera tucked away in my pack for the river crossings.
The track down was nice, again not too steep and the snow mostly stopped after 3 miles. Making for mostly snow free travel for the rest of the day. At lunch time we hit the 1000 mile marker. Only 1600 miles to go!
The afternoon was nice meandering along and then up and we camped just as the snow has begun out of tree line. It is going to be cold and windy tonight.
Today I am thankful for an easy gradient pass.
