Te Araroa – Day 116

Lake Hawea to Wanaka – 27km (2575km total)

Today was a nice easy day. The track followed the river out of Lake Hawea for most the morning and was a mostly flat cycle way. Then in Albertown the track followed Lake Wanaka around. By mid morning I was in Albertown where I stopped at a really great patisserie for a custard slice. However, they had a fire drill while I was there and it was so sad to have to go out to the car park and leave my custard slice inside. Don’t they know that I am a hungry hiker! 😤

The walk into Wanaka was nice and just as we got to the holiday park, it started to rain. Perfect timing. It is time for showers, laundry, food and the cinema.

Today I am thankful for patisseries.
